Thursday 3 August 2017

On Saturday 29 July, 220 guests enjoyed a drinks reception, two-course buffet dinner, live music, dancing and an auction at the Dressage at Hickstead Summer Party, which raised £5,059 for Chestnut Tree House.

At the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, Natasha won three gold medals – one in each of the events she competed in: Individual, Freestyle and Team Gold. The inspiring athlete, who suffers from Transverse Myelitis, works tirelessly to motivate others and challenge perceptions towards those with disabilities.

Natasha Baker said: “I feel truly honoured to be involved with this event again. It’s thanks to my dedicated team that I am able to continually improve and be at the top of my game, and it’s a goal of mine to inspire future Paralympic athletes and change the perception towards those with disabilities.

“Chestnut Tree House helps so many local children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families, and I know that the money raised at the Hickstead Dressage Summer Party will make a real difference. I’m delighted to be able to help.”

Terrina Barnes, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Chestnut Tree House said: “We are delighted that Dressage at Hickstead chose us as the single beneficiary of their Summer Party this year.

“In 41. Hickstead Dressage summer partyaddition to raising vital funds, it is so important for us to spread the word about the care we offer to children with life-limiting conditions, so that we can try to reach more families who may need our help.

“We need to raise £6,850 per day to pay for all our specialist care services – both at the hospice and in families’ own homes, which makes events like this invaluable.

“The money raised at the Hickstead Dressage Summer Party will help cover the care costs at Chestnut Tree House, allowing children to be looked after by our specialist team, enjoy the hydrotherapy pool, relax in the multi-sensory room and join in with a host of activities. We would like to thank Natasha and everyone at Hickstead for supporting us.”
