The Green Tree Gallery near Haywards Heath will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2018 by adopting Chestnut Tree House as its Charity of the Year in the same year that the charity celebrates its 15th birthday.
The Gallery’s year-long campaign kicks off with the opening of its Annual Art Sale on 27 January when it will donate 10% of takings that day to Chestnut Tree House, as well as at all 2018 exhibition launch parties.
The small independent gallery is located a stone’s throw from the entrance to Borde Hill Garden, and features a range of affordable and unique arts and crafts, as well as gifts, toys and cards. Established in 2008 as a platform for local artists and makers, and well ahead of the ‘Shop Local’ movement, the Gallery now represents over 250 artisans.
Jill Housby of The Green Tree Gallery said: “Right from conception, the whole ethos of the Gallery has been to promote local endeavour, so we thought there was no better way of marking our 10th birthday than by helping to raise the local profile of Chestnut Tree House, and at the same time raising much-needed funds.”
Samantha Phillips, who jointly runs the Gallery with Jill, added: “Having visited Chestnut Tree House and been moved by the very valuable work carried out there, we are determined to raise both local awareness and funds during our 10th year.”
After the Annual Art Sale ends on 24 February, the Gallery has decided to theme its first exhibition of the year on the Charity with the title ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ (10 March–12 May).
Jayne Todd, Community Fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House said: “We have a few things lined up to celebrate our 15th birthday in 2018 but it is great to work with local organisations who are also marking anniversaries in the same year.
“It is really exciting to be working with The Green Tree Gallery, and their ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ exhibition in the spring is the perfect link with Chestnut Tree House, as it is so important for us to focus on children and how they experience the world around them.
“The support of the local community – both in terms of raising funds and awareness – is invaluable to us so that we can continue providing specialist care services to local life-limited children and their families. We would like to thank the team at The Green Tree Gallery for choosing to mark their 10th anniversary by supporting Chestnut Tree House during 2018.”
