Stars- Bereavement Suite

The bedroom and sitting room are offered to families at the time of bereavement, enabling us to extend our care and support for as long as the family choose to stay with us.

The bedroom can be used until the time of the funeral and is specially cooled for the child or young person to lie after death.

The room can be decorated according to the personal and cultural likes of the child, allowing privacy and space for the family to be together undisturbed for the last time.

Did you know this room is available to use by any family in Sussex whose child dies suddenly, for example, in a car accident, even those who do not use Chestnut Tree House?

'When children do die there is a real sense of family there. No false compassion or awkardness, just hugs and love knowing each separate family cope in their own way, yet collectively. We all truly feel for one another, the bond is quite extraordinary for us. It is a great leveller.'
