What we do

Caring for a sick child is a round the clock, exhausting job so it is important for the whole family to have a break, to take time out and relax. Chestnut Tree House, located near Arundel, is the only children's hospice in Sussex. We provide care for children and young people who have life-limiting illnesses - such as Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, Hunters Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, multiple disabilities, cancer and progressive genetic disorders - which means that they will probably die before they reach adulthood.

No two days are alike at Chestnut Tree House but we try to create a home from home atmosphere, somewhere where it is possible for the children and families to spend time together, to do things they wouldn't normally be able to do and to create special memories together.

There are special bedrooms for children who come for overnight respite care, family rooms, a wet and dry play area, computer and music rooms, a multi sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. The house is set in beautiful gardens within an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The care we provide at Chestnut Tree House is 'holistic' meaning that we care for the whole family by providing practical support, enriching experiences and the ability to live life to the full in a very special place.
