Mark Davies, 21, from Ferring, took on the challenge of his life so far on 22nd May 2010 - The Ironman Lanzarote Triathlon. An unrivalled test of strength, character and mind-body excellence. The motto says it all: 'Normal limits do not apply'.
Mark was one of 1500 participants who took part from around the world. He started with a 2.4 mile sea swim which he completed in 56:03 mins, getting a great start in 70th position. Then followed the 112 mile bike ride, including 2 punctures, which lost Mark 45mins to repair. If that was not enough he continued on to do a 26 mile marathon run - completing the race in 12 hours 12 minutes. Mark came 6th in his age group which is fantastic news.
It is such an achievement for anyone to take part in such a gruelling event, not forgetting the heat in Lanzarote! Everyone at Chestnut Tree House would like to say a huge THANK YOU and congratulations to Mark for raising over £2000 for us and for taking up 'Chestnut's Challenge'.
