Sussex County Cricket Club players and coaches made a very special visit to Chestnut Tree House, the children's hospice for Sussex, on Tuesday 6th July 2010. The squad have been training at Arundel Castle Cricket Club, where the Sussex will be playing Gloucestershire and popped in afterwards to visit the children and staff.
The players had a tour of the hospice and were able to see for themselves the wonderful facilities and how the care Chestnut Tree House really makes a difference to the children and families who use the service.
Coach Mark Robinson said 'It's great that we are in a position to make visits like these. We hope the children will enjoy the players coming to visit them and we really want to make a difference at the hospice'.
'We all know that children love to meet their heroes and it's amazing how only a small visit like this can make such a big impact on their lives', he added.
The Ladies of Sussex CCC are also organising a charity event in aid of the Chestnut Tree House. They will be hosting afternoon tea at the Friends Provident t20 game between Sussex Sharks and Surrey Lions at Arundel on Sunday 11th July at a cost of £30 to include admission to the match.
