Driver Volunteers

Drivers provide vital transport for our children, young people and their families.

Why we want you:

We need a friendly face that can assist our staff and provide safe, comfortable driving, using both the hospice minibuses and your own vehicle on occasions.

What’s in it for you:

An opportunity to be part of a team presenting the face of Chestnut Tree House.  To be able to provide the transport link between the clients home, hospice and places of interest.

We will provide you with induction training which will include an Introduction to the Hospice, Health and Safety Awareness and relevant on the job training.

Your skills:

  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrate well-developed coping strategies
  • Concise and accurate message taking
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to work on your own or part of our team
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • To be able to map read and follow location instructions
  • Insight into issues relating to death, dying and bereavement and the complex needs of children and young people
  • Ability to be non-judgmental and accept people as individuals and respect their differences
  •  Insight into palliative care

Mandatory requirements:

  • You will need to have been approved by the Disclosure and Barring Service
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality
  • To provide current valid car and driving documentation
  • Attend in-house driving assessment & mini-bus/vehicle training
  • Any personal grief resolved
