Housekeepers

Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice provides specialist palliative care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions across Sussex and South East Hampshire.

Two Part-time positions

Hours: Average 28.75 hours per week worked over a two week shift pattern covering weekdays and alternate weekends. Shifts between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
Salary: £7.27 per hour (plus enhancements for unsociable hours)
Annual Leave: 35 days including Public holidays – (pro-rated for this role approx. 26 days)

One temporary position until March 2017

Hours: 30 hours per week Monday to Friday worked over four days
Salary: £7.27 per hour
Annual Leave: 35 days including Public holidays – (pro-rated for this role)

Located near Arundel we are the only children’s hospice in Sussex. You will be working as part of our friendly team, ensuring that the children’s and family rooms, common areas and offices are clean and tidy.  Experience of cleaning in a care setting would be useful, however full training will be provided.  You will also possess good communication skills and enjoy working with and around people.

You will need to be flexible about your working pattern to meet the demands of our service.

Our rural location is not well served by public transport so it is important that you are either a car owner/driver or that you have access to reliable transport.

Lottery Administrator – Fixed Term Contract (12 Month Maternity Cover) – closes 30 September

Hours: Part-time 22.5 hours per week
Salary: £12,120 pa (FTE £ 20,200)

St Barnabas House in Worthing provides specialist palliative care to adult patients with advanced progressive life-limiting illnesses. Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel works across Sussex providing care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Administrator to cover a period of maternity leave in our busy Lottery Office. You will be part of a small team providing a full administrative support service to the Lottery Manager responsible for the collection of Lottery donations from some 36000 supporters. Duties include administering our Lottery database, undertaking daily financial reconciliations, managing correspondence and processing Direct Debits. You will handle incoming calls, post and email, and assist with the monitoring of our external canvassing team.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of general education and at least two years’ experience in financial/accounting administration. Proficiency with MS Office packages and databases is essential as are good keyboard skills. You must have excellent communication and customer service skills developed within a public facing role and you should be able to work independently whilst remaining an effective part of the Lottery team. Strong organisational skills are essential to meet competing demands and deliver on deadlines as well as handling sudden pressures, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Full driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential

Retail Assistant Manager (Havant) – closes 30 September

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House, the children’s hospice in Sussex. Our shops and Distribution Centre provide one of our most important revenue streams and offer quality items and a friendly service. At a time of continued expansion we currently have the following vacancy:

Are you a highly organised, sales focused Assistant Manager who would love to lead our team of our busy Havant Charity Shop. If so we are looking for an independently minded team worker who is passionate about customer service to join our team of Managers supported by our Area Manager.

Responsibilities include:

Delivering excellent customer service; managing a team of staff and volunteers; stock control; visual merchandising; liaison with the Distribution Centre for stock; using the EPOS system; daily cash handling and banking; ensuring the staff, volunteers, the shop and the site are safe and secure.

Experience in retail, sales or a similar environment is vital and experience of working in a charity shop or knowledge of furniture sales is highly desirable.

Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel works across Sussex providing care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.

We are recruiting an Officer to join a busy, friendly team which provides a full administrative, management and development service for our weekly fundraising Lottery.  Reporting to the Lottery Manager, you will be responsible for the collection of Lottery donations from 36,000 supporters, managing our Lottery database, planning workflow and supervising other members of the team.  You will be able to deputise for the Lottery Manager, talk to the public and assist with monitoring Lottery promotional activity.

This is a really satisfying job for someone who enjoys financial administration, developing procedures and working with a customer database. You must have at least two years’ experience of working with large data-sets, gained in a financial administration environment.  Being able to manage and reconcile a large customer database is essential and experience of managing direct debits would be ideal.  Clear-thinking, problem-solving and organisational skills are required.  You will enjoy being part of a small team which strives to enhance and improve our vital Lottery.

Full driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.

Community Staff Nurses (E Sussex, W Sussex and SE Hampshire)

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice for East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire.  We care for around 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with terminal and progressive life-shortening conditions. We offer care both at the hospice and in families’ own homes.

We understand that it takes a very special person to care for a life-limited child or young person. Paediatric palliative care is a growing and challenging speciality which will utilise all of your clinical and interpersonal skills. With your breadth of experience and transferable skills, coupled with our support and friendly team, we can help you to succeed.

You will be joining our Community Team at Chestnut Tree House to provide holistic, individualised care and to support children and young people, and their families, experiencing a life shortening condition within the child / young person’s community environment. We are looking to recruit a paediatric or general nurse, preferably with experience of working with children with complex needs and preferably with IV, however, training is available to give you the skills required for this very rewarding role.

Advances in medicine and technology mean that these children are living longer, fuller lives. We urgently need more nurses to join our friendly team in order to provide specialist nursing support to more children and young people, enabling them to live their lives to the full – that may be simply shopping or going to the cinema or out on a speedboat.

Have you got what it takes to join our Housekeeping team at Chestnut Tree House?

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Bank Housekeeping Team at Chestnut Tree House.  You’ll have the opportunity to work a variety of shifts between 8am and 6pm Monday to Sunday.  Most shifts are either 6 or 7.5 hours long and during this time you will be working with our team to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained.

You’ll need to be able to use your initiative to prioritise tasks and ensure that you can respond when situations change.  An awareness of cleaning procedures and COSH would be a useful advantage.

Due to the rural location of the house which is not well served by public transport you will need access to own transport.
