Thank you for your interest in working for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. We have a range of jobs available at the hospice and in our charity shops which we regularly have vacancies for, covering East and West Sussex.


Social Worker

Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £29,170 – £33,700 (depending on depth and variety of experience in a similar role)
Closing date: Friday 9 March

Location: St Barnabas House, Titnore Lane, Worthing

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care, day hospice and community care.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic social worker with the skills to work with individuals and families who are experiencing significant loss, a proven ability to work with people of different ages and backgrounds and well-developed communication skills.

This role will include:

  • The completion of assessments of the psychosocial needs and resources of patients and family members
  • The provision of ongoing psychological support to patients and family members, pre and post-bereavement
  • The provision of information and advice to service users and colleagues
  • Support for clinical colleagues in ensuring that an appropriate response is made to safeguarding concerns
  • Working with the multi-professional Family Services Team to develop and expand the service provided, including possible group work and support for children and young people.
