Our Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice shop in Chichester has been awarded 3rd place in the Acopia Easter Best Dressed Charity Shop Window competition, winning £100 worth of visual merchandising for the shop.
Susy Pitt, Manager, and her team created the display which tells the story of an Easter picnic along ‘Chestnut Way’ to an idyllic spot on the South Downs. The judges loved the story that the window portrayed and that the main features in the display were all recycled.
The shop team used an old donated bicycle and plastic turf from a builder’s skip which they were given permission to use. The wood for the fencing was donated by a customer and were off-cuts left over from repairing his fence. The flowers and basket and all the other items were shop donations.
One of the elements of the display were small ducks on a pond, hand-knitted by Chichester resident and Chestnut Tree House supporter, Rosie Turner, known as Granny Rosie. Granny Rosie, is the mother-in-law of local author and Chestnut Tree House supporter Kate Mosse. She has knitted many delightful items for our window display over the years, including a figure of the Queen and her corgis for the shop’s first birthday party.
Susy said: “It is fantastic news that we have been placed 3rd and we are all absolutely delighted. Everyone in the Chichester shop played an important role and my husband helped too. It has been wonderful to get such a positive reaction from customers and passers-by”.
Our Chichester shop is situated at 62 North Street, Chichester, PO19 1NB, 01243 539963.
