Meet Jacqueline Wilson at Follers Manor Open Garden

Friday 21 June 2019

On Sunday 30 June, Anne and Geoff Shaw, owners of Follers Manor in Alfriston, are opening their spectacular garden in order to raise money for Chestnut Tree House.

Follers ManorThis will be the fourth time that the couple have opened their award-winning garden for Chestnut Tree House, with last year’s event raising over £2,600.

This year visitors can enjoy the redeveloped meadow area which has been laid with swirling paths, beautiful lawns and a sunken garden with the sheep grazing at eye level. “It really is a lovely area that we are excited to share with our visitors” says Anne.

As well as the opportunity to explore the new area, visitors to the garden will have the chance to meet much-loved children’s author Jacqueline Wilson. Having visited the garden in 2017, she will be returning this year and will be available between 2pm and 3pm to meet fans and sign books they bring with them. Any fans under 18 will need to bring a grown up with them.JacquelineWilson_FollersManor

Over the past three years Follers Manor open gardens has raised over £7,600 for Chestnut Tree House, more than enough to cover an entire day’s worth of the charity’s care.

“We are so pleased to be able to help our local children’s hospice in this way,” says Anne. “I was shocked to learn that the charity receives less than 6% of its funding from central government, so we hope that plenty of people join us on Sunday 30 June to help local children and their families experience the happiness of Chestnut Tree House.”

Follers Manor is located on Whiteway in Alfriston. The gardens will be open on Sunday 30 June from 10am until 4pm with homemade refreshments available along with a tombola and a variety of stalls.

Entry is £7 per adult and accompanied children can visit for free. Dogs will not be allowed into the garden and organisers have asked that dogs aren’t left in cars.
