AMOC Sussex holds Motorcycle Charity Bash for local families

Thursday 17 October 2019

Last month AMOC, the American Motorcycle Owners Club, organised their first Motorcycle Charity Bash at the Frankland Arms in Washington, to raise funds for local children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

AMOC started in 1994 by a group of bikers who wanted to ride together without the hassle and baggage of official owners’ groups. Since then, AMOC has now evolved into two groups based in Surrey and Sussex who like to ride together and attend rallies.

“When we were planning our first Annual Charity event, there was only ever one charity in our minds.” Jerry Lines, President of AMOC Sussex, says. “The way in which Chestnut Tree House helps

children and their families is absolutely remarkable. We are already planning next year’s event”.

On 31 August 2019, the biker group, friends and local families gathered at the Frankland Arms in Washington for their family fun charity bash. Hosted by landlords, Mat and Yan, guests enjoyed a motorcycle show and competition in the sunshine, live music, as well as feasting on a hog roast.

“The event was a huge success raising an incredible £409. We would like to say a huge thank you to AMOC and everyone at the Frankland Arms for their support”, Caroline Roberts-Quigley, Community Fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House, says. “Not only have you helped us increase awareness of the care we offer in the local community but, you have also raised funds that will make such a difference to the children and families.”
