The annual charity conker competition at The Spotted Cow in Angmering is a firm favourite on the autumn event calendar for people living in the local area. Individuals and families headed to the village pub on 13 October, and they smashed their fundraising for local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House, raising over £500 on the day – bringing the total raised since 2000 to over £21,000!
The competition was organised by a locally based fundraising group, S.C.O.T.C.H (Spotted Cow Organisation To Create Help), formed in 1980 dedicated to supporting local and national charities. This group has now ceased, but Landlord Justin has decided to continue running this popular annual event. In addition to a knockout competition for individuals and teams, those who attended the event enjoyed a barbeque, raffle and live music. By enjoying moments with family and friends, the conker players and their supporters helped raise vital funds for local children with life-shortening conditions and their families, so that they can create memories together.
