Scrap Car Comparison tell you first-hand the importance of a charity partnership

Monday 9 March 2020

Businesses are vital in raising funds for local children with life-shortening conditions and their families. Equally, Corporate Charity Partnerships have a vital role to play in fulfilling a business’s corporate and social responsibility. This month, we caught up with Scrap Car Comparison, one of the country’s first comparison websites for scrap vehicle prices.

Scrap Car Comparison 1In 2019, Scrap Car Comparison started their ‘Donate A Car’ scheme. A scheme where the business donates the proceeds from a scrap car to the customer’s charity of choice, raising over £9,000 for Chestnut Tree House to date!

Dorry Potter, Head of PR at Scrap Car Comparison, tells us more about the partnership, the positive impact it has on team spirit, and why they chose to support their local children’s hospice.

Why did Scrap Car Comparison decide to support Chestnut Tree House?

We are so happy to be working with Chestnut Tree House. It is a local charity to our main office. The children’s hospice is also very close to the hearts of many people who work with us, some whose families have been helped with the wonderful work that you do.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your ‘Donate a Car’ scheme, please?

There are a variety of reasons you may consider scrapping your car, whether you’re downsizing to reduce carbon emissions, your car is damaged or broken, or you heard about our ‘Donate a Car’ scheme and want to donate money to your chosen charity. We make the process hassle-free, we collect your vehicle free of charge and donate some or all of the proceeds of your sale to the charity of your choice!

At the end of our calls we ask our customers if they would like to donate to our ‘Charity of the Month’. Here they can choose to donate as much or little as they would like. They can also choose to donate to any of our partnered charities, listed on our website. People can also choose to donate their whole car to any of our partnered charities at any time – this is such a great and unusual way to raise money! We love it!

How have your employees got involved in fundraising?

Scrap Car Comparison employees are very much involved with our charity fundraising, lots of our partnered charities are suggested by our team and lots of the guys are involved with regular events and activities which support our charities too!!

How has Scrap Car Comparison benefited from the partnership?

We benefit by learning so much about what all these wonderful charities do and building great, long-lasting relationships. We educate our staff and customers about the work of charities like Chestnut Tree House.

What would you say to a business who is thinking of choosing Chestnut Tree House as their charity partner?

PLEASE DO IT! The team at Chestnut Tree House have been a dream to work with, the facilities and the work they do there is amazing. We are so proud to be working with the team and helping support the wonderful and very challenging work that the hospice does.

Corporate partnerships are invaluable to Chestnut Tree House and there are numerous ways businesses can choose to get involved and show their support for local children and their families.

We want to make sure you get as much as you can out of the partnership, so our corporate fundraising team will work closely with you. By creating tailored opportunities, we would hope to increase staff engagement, attract positive PR and boost your company profile.
