Seven-year-old’s fundraiser inspired by Captain Tom

Friday 15 May 2020

Inspired by NHS fundraiser Captain Tom Moore, seven-year-old Nikolas Ollis from Washington, West Sussex decided to take on a walking challenge of his own in May – a ‘100 mile Chanctonbury Challenge’ to raise money for his local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.Nikolas Ollis

Nik’s first 5.4 mile walk was on Tuesday 5 May, when he was joined by his mum, dad, big sister Isabella, and dog Bracken.

“I like walking,” said Nik, “so I have decided to do my favourite walk to Chanctonbury Ring on the South Downs 19 times to raise money for Chestnut Tree House. It’s a special place that takes care of very sick children and I wanted to do something to help them.”

Nik has already exceeded his original fundraising target of £1,000 and will be walking a total of 101.84 miles during May and climbing a total of 12,274 feet.
