Pay for a Day: Anne and Geoff Shaw

Sunday 21 June 2020

At the end of last year, Anne and Geoff Shaw made a generous donation to pay for a day of all Chestnut Tree House’s care services, and they selected 21 June 2020 as their chosen day.

They said, “We have been lucky in life with two healthy girls and just can’t begin to imagine seeing your child suffer in any way. The bravery and positivity of the children, their parents and siblings is truly amazing. How irrelevant our everyday problems seem in comparison. As soon as you walk into Chestnut Tree House, you see the effort that has gone into creating a fun, caring environment. The atmosphere is one of happiness, but of course it would be with staff who are so lovely and jolly. Before we visited the House, we had never been to a hospice before and to be honest felt a little nervous as to how we would react. How daft we were, it was in fact such a happy, positive, uplifting place which gives you a lovely warm feeling inside. It is with sadness that this year we are unable to open our beautiful gardens to support Chestnut Tree House due to the current COVID-19 crisis. But, we look forward to being able to open next summer to support this wonderful charity again.”

£6,850 needs to be raised every single day to pay for all Chestnut Tree House’s care services, both at the hospice and in families’ own homes and, in these unprecedented times is needed more than ever.

Everyone at Chestnut Tree House would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Anne and Geoff Shaw for supporting local children and families. Without the generosity of our community, local hospice care wouldn’t be possible – now or in the future. Thank you.
