Barlow’s Services has challenged its team to run around the world and complete a million press-ups in 2021 to raise funds for local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.
The idea came from Darren Barlow, Director at Barlow’s Services in a bid to bring their team back together, boost staff morale and have some fun whilst working from home.
“There’s a team of 24 of us who are getting involved in the challenge. We need to run, walk or crawl around the world, which is the equivalent of 40,075 km, and do 1 million press-ups by the end of 2021,” says Adam Reeves, Quality Manager at Barlow’s Services. To reach their target, the team needs to run 3,340 km and complete 83,000 press-ups every month.
“In January, we ran 4,770km and achieved 52,583 press-ups. This is a great start, and we are proud of that! We know that as we get further into the year, the challenge will become harder. So, every month we are offering incentives to keep the team motivated.”
The team hopes to raise £5,000 throughout the year and will be splitting their total between Cancer Research UK and their local children’s hospice Chestnut Tree House. And they are encouraging their suppliers to get involved too!
“We are keeping everyone updated with our progress and are happy to take on a challenge. So, if any of our customers or suppliers want us to run in fancy dress, we’d be more than happy to accommodate!”
