16-year-old Samuel Clarke has been running every day for a year to raise funds and awareness for local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.
Sam has covered between five and 20kms every day across the UK, Italy, Canada and mostly, mainland Spain.
“Nothing has stopped Sam from getting out on his daily runs, he’s always managed to get out with a mask to raise awareness of the wonderful work that Chestnut Tree House does,” says Sam’s Mum, Sally.
Sam started his journey on Friday 17 January 2020 and has raised an incredible £5,229 for Chestnut Tree House. Averaging 70km a week across varying terrains, Sam has covered mountains, beaches, the Gibraltar rock and even taken on Marathons.
Sam chose to support the children’s hospice, after they cared for a close family member who passed away from Batten’s Disease in 2016. Speaking about his fundraising, Sam says, “Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice has an amazing team – they offered our family full support, advice and end of life care. The hospice staff really went above and beyond to help our family. It is an amazing place.”
