Thank you for your support during July 2021

A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of you who have supported Chestnut Tree House in any way during July 2021.

From wonderful people, young and young at heart, to clubs, groups, organisations and businesses, here are just some of you who have helped to provide vital children’s hospice care through your recent support. We wish we could mention every single one of you!

Well done to 7-year-old, Connor who walked a total of 9 miles from his hometown of Littlehampton to Arundel and back, raising an amazing £400. Connor thought of the idea after driving past Chestnut Tree House with his mum Stacey. Connor loves arts and crafts and wanted to use the money to order lots of materials to make sure all the Chestnut children get to experience the things he loves – arts, crafts, and messy play! Here is Connor dropping off all the fabulous crafts that he bought with the money raised.

Thank You to Paul & Viktoria of Eye Media Group who helped organise Hailsham Live which – despite the torrential rain – was a fantastic event helping to raise lots of money for Chestnut Tree House.

Unbridled thanks to Sophie and Georgie who held their annual Muntham Farm Charity Horse Ride across the beautiful Sussex Downs. Starting at Muntham Farm this popular event raised an incredible £2,012. Participant rider Natalie said: “The charity ride for Chestnut Tree House was such a well-run ride. Such amazing views and a lovely ride taking in the South Downs. Lots of chances to let the ponies stretch their legs and luckily we missed the worst of the rain. We will definitely be back again if another ride was organised.”  (Photo courtesy of LRG photography)

Many thanks to the organisers of Denton Community Challenge for inviting Chestnut Tree House along to their community event on Saturday, 17 July for a sun-drenched afternoon of active fun.  Our skittle alley made an appearance and provided hours of entertainment, whilst those that took part helped to raise funds for the hospice.

Thank you to all the team at Morrisons Eastbourne for their generous donation of books to Chestnut Tree House, with an invitation to fundraise and engage with the wonderful people of Eastbourne outside their store. These opportunities are beneficial to our hospice in so many ways and very much appreciated.

At Home Estate Agents caused a chain reaction by donating £250 towards food which fueled our Hit The Downs cyclists through to the finish line on the South Downs.

Six year-old Eden snipped up around £1000 by getting people to sponsor his first ever haircut at Headmasters in Brighton! Caring Eden also donated his 12” long locks to the Little Princess Trust, a charity supplying real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses. Thank you for your stylish support!

A super special thanks to everyone who took part in Super Hero Friday for Children’s Hospice Week last month including:

Two members of staff at Littlehampton Academy who got their capes and masks on to raise a heroic £150

The pupils and staff at Goldstone Primary in Brighton who came flying in with an out-of-this-world £400. Thanks to everyone who made it such a success, especially Superdeputy Head Ms. Gibbs!

The Wonderchildren and Superstaff at Tumble Tots Worthing who raised a super duper £250

Heaps of gratitude to Biffa Waste Services in Burgess Hill, who wasted no time in donating £780, from their very own fundraising scheme, to help us out.

And it was music to our ears that South Lodge were hosting their Big Band on the Lawn event again, having been away for a year due to the pandemic. They raised and donated funds to the tune of a whopping £14,011.27! Thank you to everyone involved in this event, your ongoing support is hugely appreciated.

Finally we say ‘thank you’ to the Hampden Park Bowling Club and their Presidient Corinne, for organising a fundraising event, due to take place in Eastbourne last month, which was postponed by storms that hit the area. Happily they will be bowling along to the rescheduled day on 7 August – see you in next month’s roll call!

Everyone at Chestnut Tree House are truly grateful for all your support and we love to hear your stories. Keep them coming and help your local children’s hospice to continue our work with the young people and families in our communities.
