On Sunday 4 July, South Lodge Hotel, near Horsham, hosted their popular Big Band on the Lawns event, raising over £14,000 for local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.

Chestnut Tree HouseOver 800 guests enjoyed the evening in the stunning hotel gardens, where they enjoyed a fantastic performance by The Syd Lawrence Orchestra, with a guest appearance from Dominic Ferris during the interval.

The event, which has been running since 2002, raised incredible funds for local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House through ticket sales and a raffle on the night, which included return flights to New York City, gifted by Virgin Atlantic. “From everyone at Chestnut Tree House, we’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at South Lodge for organising such a spectacular event,” said Amber Lilly, Fundraiser at Chestnut Tree House.

“We have to raise £6,850 every day to pay for all our specialist care services, provided at the hospice and in families’ own homes, so what you have raised will make such a big difference.”

David Connell at South Lodge Hotel said: “We are delighted to welcome our Big Band Charity Concert back and to raise such an amazing amount of money for Chestnut Tree House. The work they do is inspiring and so valuable to the families they support. Having not been able to host the event last year due to the pandemic, it is truly heart-warming to have so much support from the local community. We look forward to getting back to making this an annual fundraiser and to continue our work with the fabulous team at Chestnut Tree House.”

“Once again, I’d like to say thank you,” said Amber. “To South Lodge, but also to all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the event a success, the many businesses that gifted prizes for the raffle, and to everyone who attended. Chestnut Tree House relies on the support of people like you to be able to provide care to the children and families who need it. You are amazing.”
