Thank you for your support during August 2021

Wednesday 8 September 2021

A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of you who have supported Chestnut Tree House in any way during August 2021.

From wonderful people, young and young at heart, to clubs, groups, organisations and businesses, here are just some of you who have helped to provide vital children’s hospice care through your recent support. We wish we could mention every single one of you!

Lordington Lavendar Thank You pictureA huge thank you goes to Lordington Lavender who back in July opened their doors – or more precisely their fragrant fields – to the public and, together with the Inner Wheel of Chichester who provided the delicious refreshments, raised over £3000 for Chestnut Tree House. Thanks also go to all our amazing volunteers who braved some challenging weather to help out for the week.

Congratulations and thanks go to Tom, the Director of New Square Property, for getting together friends, family and suppliers to beat their £6850 ‘Pay For A Day’ target at a fabulous golf day held at Goodwood Golf Club. It was a long time coming as it had been postponed from last year due to Covid. However, it was worth the wait as everyone tee’d off on a glorious day in gorgeous surroundings.

Brighton Gin

Cheers to all the wonderful team at Brighton Gin who have kindly gifted us one very limited edition bottle of their Pride gin, which will be just the tonic for our fundraising efforts. You will need to keep an eye open for our forthcoming announcements, or sign up to our newsletter, to find out how to get your hands on such a sort after item.

A very generous donation of £5000 was gratefully received from the Mark Master Masons benevolent fund. Each Mark Masons lodge across the country was asked to nominate a hospice to receive £1000 in memory of HRH Prince Philip and Chestnut Tree House were lucky enough to receive nominations from five Sussex Lodges: Midhurst 1009, Adur 386, Pulborough 124,  Persevere 732 and Charmandean 1763. A huge thank you to these local lodges for their nominations and to the benevolent fund for their generous support of hospices across the country.

Brighton zipThank you to long-term supporters Lauren and all the daredevils at Brighton Zip who invited Chestnut Tree House along to the networking launch of their new sky terrace bar and kitchen. On a lovely Friday evening we were able to introduce our hospice’s work to new business friends, update those who know us already, and raise much needed funds through donations on the night – all to a wonderful backdrop of music and the picturesque Brighton beach. We look forward to more events down there soon.

Thanks to the Old Village Fish Bar in Portslade, who requested one of our collection tins and have been asking their customers to ‘fillet’! They have chipped in almost £190 already to help Chestnut Tree House’s work in our communities – that’s no small fry!

L.A. Bar and L.A. Bistro Drag night fundraiserThere was some fabulous fundraising at the L.A. Bar and L.A. Bistro in Saltdean last month who, with their Alternative Miss Saltdean drag evening in support of Chestnut Tree House, raised a glittering £2050! Congratulations to Wilma, who was crowned this year’s pageant winner, and thank you to Jason and all their staff and patrons for your support.

U3A Charity Crafters stall at Patcham Duck FayreFinishing up this month, the very talented Patcham branch of the U3A  Charity Crafters (University of the 3rd Age) supported Chestnut Tree House at the quackingly good Patcham Duck Fayre! The ladies not only made every item for sale on their beautiful stall, they also held a raffle to win a wonderful handstitched quilt. Their endeavours crafted a fantastic total of £700 and needle-ss to say, were are sew very thankful for all your help and support.

On behalf of everyone at Chestnut Tree House, thank you for helping us continue to support the young people and their families in our community. Please get in touch to get involved – you could appear on this very page!
