Our Board of Trustees are all volunteers. They are responsible for the governance of the charity, overseeing and guiding the work of the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team.
Patricia Woolgar is a retired solicitor. She originally joined the Worthing branch of Thomas Eggar, then known as Bowles and Stevens, over 30 years ago. Former senior partner, Dick Stapleton, was one of the inaugural Trustees when St Barnabas was established in the 1970s, and Patricia wanted to continue the firm’s long association with the Charity. She joined the Board of Trustees in 2014 and she was appointed Chair in January 2019 .
Patricia was head of the Private Client Division and a Member of the Executive and Strategy Boards for many years. She specialised in Private Client work providing personal legal advice to individuals and their families. She was a member of Solicitors for the Elderly and held numerous personal appointments as Executor, Trustee and Court of Protection appointed Deputy.
She says: “I know how much the people cared for and their families appreciate the tremendous support they receive from the hospices. Over the years I have watched the incredible growth and development of St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House in awe. I hope that the skills and knowledge I have acquired over the years continue to be of some benefit in meeting the challenges still to come. I desire to give something back to the Community in which I have lived so happily for most of my life.”
