Our Chief Executive and Senior Management Team (SMT) members support the Board of Trustees, leading the charity’s operations and overseeing the day to day running of both hospices – Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House. Heading up the various departments within the charity, the SMT meets regularly to review organisational performance, manage the implementation of strategy and agree policy.
A Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development and previously a Board member for NHS Policy Board.
Alison joined the charity in January 2018. Before that she was a Director for a Care provider of homes across Dorset, Sussex, Bath and Devon and domiciliary Care and previously Director of HR in a large, acute, teaching and research hospital where she led on many IT implementations including E-rostering for 10,000 staff and outpatient appointments.
Alison says: “It is a real privilege to be part of the team at Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House; it’s a very friendly place to come to work.
“As Chief Operating Officer it’s a busy and fulfilling role as I am responsible for all operational matters and lead the Estates, Facilities, IT, HR and Finance Teams.
“As support functions, we care and are here to make things easier for our patients, children, families, friends, volunteers and staff. This can range from ensuring rooms are cleaned thoroughly, food is appetising and nutritious, security systems are up-to-date, IT systems and projects are progressing, space is planned for teams to work in and policies and budgets are in place.”
