We are delighted to present our 2019 Business Awards judging panel.


The judges for the 2019 Chestnut Tree House Business Awards are:

Kevin Byrne

Kevin Byrne profile picKevin is a leading entrepreneur and award-winning businessman, building Checkatrade.com from scratch with no investment to a turnover of over £22m with over 300 employees.

Kevin recently sold his company, and is now involved in building a health complex and working in construction with several projects, both commercial and residential. He has invested upwards in a dozen start ups, although his passion is in his charity work, where his Family Foundation is currently financing four schools in rural Bangladesh.

Maureen Chowen

Maureen Chowen resized for webMaureen has been a strong supporter of Chestnut Tree House since it opened, and became a Patron in 2008, together with her husband Michael Chowen CBE, DL. Maureen stepped down as a Patron and joined the Board of Trustees in 2011.

Her experience in the retail sector as Director and Company Secretary of Sussex Stationers Ltd from 1976-2005, has been invaluable in the expansion and opening of Chestnut Tree House’s new charity shops in East and West Sussex.

Colin DavisColin Davis

Colin is a Director and joint owner of LawlerDavis, Independent Financial Planners – a local company of wealth managers specialising in investments and pension planning.

LawlerDavis has supported Chestnut Tree House for several years, with Colin and co-director Sarah Lawler driving the fundraising initiatives. They have both known people who have benefited from the care provided by Chestnut Tree House.

Jon Rogers

Jon began his career studying Stage Management for two years at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After reaching the top of his chosen profession, with 2 equally qualified stage sweepers, he set up PWR Events, a company specialising in the promotion of large scale outdoor ice rink events at Christmas.

As well as promoting many outdoor ice rink events at venues such as Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace, PWR Events were responsible for creating and producing the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland event, now in its 12th year.

Jon’s first love however, has always been property and with the same partners has built up an extensive property portfolio across London.  They are currently working further afield with their first development in Barbados.
