Music in the Park

Chestnut Tree House Wonder Walk

Date: Saturday 15 June TBC
Time: shifts available between 4pm-12am
Location: venue to be confirmed, Eastbourne

We’re looking for some lovely volunteers to help at our 10 mile walk. Roles include helping with route and registration, cheering squad and route marshalling.

Hughie’s Supercar Sunday

Beachy Head Marathon

Location: Pentlands car park, Wealdon, BN26 5QJ

We’re looking for some lovely volunteers to help at the Beachy Head marathon. Roles include helping with route and registration, marshals on the course as well as helping on water stops.

Win a Car

Be our Squirrel Mascot!

We are looking for a squirrel mascot volunteer, someone who would love to wear a squirrel suit to promote us! NB the suit may be heavy. We are also looking for a ‘minder’ for the mascot, to ensure they are safe and in the right place. These roles would be on an ad hoc basis, weekday or weekends, daytime or evenings.

We need volunteers to help our Maintenance Team with looking after the Chestnut Tree House vehicles.

Why we want you:

We need you to assist the Maintenance Team in the upkeep of the Chestnut Tree House vehicle fleet. It is important for us to ensure they are in a safe and road-worthy condition whenever in use.

The role will involve:

Volunteers will work as a team of two, undertaking and completing the various checks and cleaning tasks such as:

  • Checking the lights
  • Keeping oil levels topped up
  • Checking tyre pressures
  • Checking water levels
  • Cleaning the inside of the vehicle
  • Vehicle washing & vacuuming (involving driving locally)

Please note volunteers are not expected to act as a mechanic, as the vehicles are still serviced annually by a local garage.

Your skills:

  • Capability to carry out basic vehicle safety and running checks.
  • Willingness to undertake training on Manual Handling, Health & Safety and the Control of Hazardous Substances (COSHH) and the use of specific maintenance tools where appropriate
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Ability to use small hand tools i.e. screwdriver
  • Ability to use maintenance apparatus including battery driven equipment, pressure washer and small steps/ladder
  • Competent in handling materials identified as hazardous in the COSHH register and the use of power tools
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to work on your own or part of our team
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • Physically able to carry out allocated tasks
  • An insight into children with disabilities and the needs of their families

Mandatory requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence is ideally required
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality
  • Any personal grief resolved

Promotional Stand Volunteers

We need volunteers to help visit locations to promote our events by talking and handing out leaflets e.g ‘Night To Remember’ ‘Hit the Downs’ and ‘Littlehampton 10k Run’.

Chestnut Tree House – Collecting Box Coordinators

Time: weekly commitment of 2 hours max Location: primarily in: Chichester, Horsham, Crawley, Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Uckfield, Heathfield, Hastings, Crowborough

We need volunteers to help co-ordinate the collection, placement and replacement of our hospices Collecting Tins around the local area.

Friends Group for Chestnut Tree House

Time: Its up to you, flexibility is one of the great parts of this role. Location: Partly in East Sussex

Could you and your friends be a super fundraising friend to Chestnut Tree House? Could you coordinate a range of fundraising events throughout the year (typically around 2 or 3) and act as a true ambassador for your local children’s hospice service?
