Information about our services for patients and families. Our care services
At Chestnut Tree House we provide end of life care services by skilled and qualified healthcare professionals for families whose child is terminally ill.
Child death is very rare and it is important to understand that even within a children’s hospice this does not occur often.
We work with all other professionals involved in the child or young person’s care to ensure that they are supported and cared for in the best way possible.
Chestnut Tree House can provide symptom management for complex symptoms and has specialist medical input and support available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We can provide end of life care either in the child’s home, hospital or at Chestnut Tree House depending on the needs of the child or young person.
Following the death of a child or young person we have a bereavement suite at the house called ‘Stars’. This suite provides complete privacy for the bereaved family. It includes a special bedroom for the child to lay at rest until the funeral in a supportive environment.
Chestnut tree House aims to work collaboratively with all areas of the acute services to provide a choice of setting for the child or young person who requires end of life care.
