Our care

Families and carers

We’re here to help you through all the ups and downs of caring for a child with a life-limiting condition.

Support we offer

We know that having a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition can affect the whole family, and our trained team is on hand to offer support for everyone.
For parents and carers:

  • Our therapy team can offer parents and carers space for discussion.
  • Caring for a sick child can be physically demanding so our volunteer complementary therapists visit to offer massage therapy for parents.
  • Short term and overnight breaks offered for children to stay overnight and give families a short term break from caring for their child.

For siblings

We run activity days allowing siblings to meet other children or teenagers who also have a sick brother or sister. Our therapists can provide individual support for siblings who are coping with having a very sick brother or sister, or who have been bereaved. Siblings are welcome to stay overnight at the hospice accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Fun and activities

Meet and connect with other parents and let us know how we can provide the best service for your family by coming along to our regular parent and carer engagement and social events. We also run activities for siblings of all ages – a great opportunity for them to have some fun and make friends with other children in similar situations. In the past we’ve held bowling days, trips to the cinema and roller discos!

Find out what activities we have available for siblings and parents/carers here, and book your place. (Only families known to the hospice can book onto these activities – if you’re not already referred to us find out how to get hospice support here.)
