What is The Big Hoot?

The Big Hoot was Chichester and Arundel’s first large scale outdoor art trail that ran from July 10 to September 1 2024. It raised over £150k for children's hospice care!

How does The Big Hoot support Chesnut Tree House?

As well as being a free, fun day out for the whole family, The Big Hoot trail will also raise vital funds and awareness for Chestnut Tree House.

We need over £5million every year to provide hospice care for local children and their families, with only a small amount of this coming from government funding.

About the trail

30 large owl sculptures nested in public green spaces, Chichester high street and harbour, and Arundel’s historic town centre during the summer holidays, providing a fun day out for the entire family. There was also a collection of smaller owls in shops and cafes! There were rewards to be won when you collected each owl, we had fun owl-themed events and a fabulous farewell event!

This was all made possible by our 23 incredible sponsors, 29 talented artists, 31 fantastic schools and community groups and  you! The wonderful public who had fun visiting the owls, bought merchandise in our shops, took part in our owl raffle and posted selfies on social media.
