Young people and DofE

Gain new experiences and skills by volunteering with us.

For the majority of our roles, you’ll need to be 16 or older. But there’s still plenty of ways under 16s can get involved! Have a look below at some great ideas to get involved at any age.

Aged 16 to 18?

If you’re completing a UCAS form or putting together your CV, volunteering is a great way to make yourself stand out. You can gain all kinds of new skills and experience from working in a charity shop to helping out at our events.

The minimum age for most of our roles is 16, so take a look at our current opportunities.

Complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award with us
As an Approved Activity Provider, we can help you achieve your bronze, silver or gold award. It’s also an opportunity for you to make a real difference to the lives of local families.

Approved Activity Providers (AAPs) are organisations whose opportunities have been approved by the DofE as meeting sectional conditions and can count towards the achievement of a DofE Award.

Be part of a team, learn new skills and find a creative outlet in our shops. There are many roles to choose from such as customer service, shop display, sorting and prepping stock, administration and more.

Aged 15 or under?

There are lots of ways you can support your local children's hospice and fundraise for us at the same time. We can help you plan a fundraising activity and provide you with promotional materials such as posters and t-shirts.

Easy ways to fundraise

Fundraise with your school

We don't currently offer any volunteer roles for under 16s. However, you can still get involved helping the hospice. Why not involve your school mates and teachers as well by organising a sponsored sports day, cake sale or quiz night.
