Our Annual Report 2024

What is a charity Annual Report?

Every year we publish one Annual Report which covers St Barnabas and Chestnut Tree House, it is a document we’re required to produce each year to outline our goals, activities and financial performance. It’s an opportunity for us to look at our purpose as a charity, and what we’ve done in the past 12 months to achieve our goals. Our Annual Report looks over the last 12 months and reflects candidly about the highs and the lows that we’ve encountered.

We have had a momentous year as St Barnabas Hospices announced the decision to merge with Martlets hospice in Hove and started to move through the transition, while aiming to provide seamless care at the highest possible level (more information on p18). Demand for hospice services continues to grow with the healthcare landscape also rapidly changing and reshaping, which is why we also use the Annual Report to set out our refreshed missions and strategies for the year ahead (page 20).

What else to expect in the Annual Report

  • Quality progress (page 22)
  • Environmental report (page 26)
  • Risks and challenges (page 29)
  • Financial review (page 35)
