Event details

Blaze the trails in summer 2022 and take on the best killer climbs and swooping descents that the South Downs has to offer. With a fully signed route, refreshment stops and mechanical support. This professionally organised mountain bike event has everything you need to cross the finish line safely and in style.

Whether you’re taking part in memory of a loved one, getting a group of mates or work colleagues together for a bit of fun, or taking on a personal challenge, we want to see you on Sunday 17 July for a fantastic day out in the saddle.

Your sponsorship

Your registration fee covers the cost of putting on the event only. To help reach everyone who needs hospice care we ask everyone taking part to raise what they can.

Every pound you raise will go directly to support local children cared for by Chestnut Tree House and their families.

Information about the challenge

Registration fees:  30km £35 | 60km £40 | 80km £45

Route type: all routes are off road and are circular

Start and finish venue: Adur Recreational Ground, Shoreham by Sea

How long will it take? Between 3 and 8 hours depending what route you are choose.

What route files will be availale? We will provide GPX, TXC and KML formats.

When will the route files be available? Two to three weeks before the date of the event.

What bike should I take part on? We reccomend a mountain bike or gravel bike, Ebikes are also suitable, if you have suitable millage for the battery. You will be unable to take part on a road bike.

While there are no government guidelines currently in place, the safety of all our riders, volunteers, staff, and suppliers are paramount. You are free to wear a mask if you so wish but it is not compulsory. Please respect others. There will be PPE available at registration and the rest stops.

Hit the Downs MTB lends itself to social distancing with all event activities such as registration, rest stops, and the challenge itself all outside. Once you set off you will naturally separate from other riders while on route.
