Flowers hanging over Chestnut Tree House

About us

COVID-19 information

We’re closely monitoring the situation concerning the COVID-19 virus. We are in regular contact with Public Health England and the NHS. We will provide updates as and when information changes.

Visiting the hospice

Currently, Chestnut Tree House remains closed to routine visitors to limit the risk of COVID-19 to children and young people, families, and staff.

Government guidance

COVID-19 vaccinations will become mandatory for our patient-facing staff from 1 April 2022.

On 9 November the government published their response to a public consultation on making vaccination a condition of deployment in health and wider social care sector. In this paper they stated that anyone coming into contact with patients as part of Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated activity must be vaccinated against COVID-19. As providers of CQC-regulated care, hospices are included in this requirement.

Small teams of canvassers are fundraising door-to-door and in pre-booked venues. We have carried out full risk assessments in line with the government guidelines and will continue to closely monitor the situation.

All our shops are open again and we’ve put procedures in place to ensure you have a safe shopping trip.

From 30 November 2021, following Government regulations, it is mandatory for all customers, staff and volunteers to wear face coverings in our shops, unless they have an exemption.

Please note that shops are only able to accept limited donations, therefore donations cannot be accepted once a safe capacity has been reached. Please contact your local shop for more details before making a journey.

Find a charity shop or read our full shop FAQs.

The majority of our hospice-based volunteering roles are still suspended. However you can volunteer in our shops, warehouse and at events.

All volunteer roles can be found here
