How are children’s hospices funded?

Families are never charged for their care, and all our services are free of charge.

We need nearly £6 million every year to provide hospice care for local children and their families, with only a small amount of this coming from government funding. The rest – around £10,000 per day – comes from donations, fundraising, gifts in wills, charity shops and the Chestnut Tree House lottery. Without your incredible help we wouldn’t be able to continue to support children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses.

How you're making all the difference

£24

could give a child the chance to feel like a pop star for an hour in the music room, singing and playing instruments

£60

provides a couple of hours for a family to splash about safely together in our hydrotherapy pool

£119

pays for a nurse to make a visit to a child in their own home – giving tired carers the chance to take a well-earned break

£165

could fund a social evening for bereaved parents allowing them to connect with others who understand their loss

£213

could fund a sibling activity day for children who have a brother or sister with a life-limiting condition, so they can have fun, express themselves, and make friends

£1K

Pays for a 24-hour stay, exploring the woodland walk, relaxing in the multi-sensory room or getting messy with arts and crafts

You're making a real impact to peoples' lives

“If you’re thinking about fundraising for your local children’s hospice, then all I can say is thank you. Because of you, so many families like us have a lifeline. They have a break, and having a break isn’t a normal part of life for families like us. Because of you, we are not always in hospital surrounded by machines, we are somewhere that feels like home. And that is massive.”
