The Night to Remember event has taken place every year since 2010, raising over £550,000 for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. Thank you to all the ladies who have walked 5, 10 or 15 miles through the night each May.
Our annual midnight walk will not take place this year while we look to redevelop the event. After eight very successful years, and feedback from our walkers, we feel its time to make some changes. As we have been unable to secure a venue for this year’s walk, its the perfect opportunity for us to spend some time making sure we bring you the very best walking event for 2019.
It’s been a tough decision, but we think its the right one. We know many of our regular walkers will be disappointed, but there are still plenty of ways to get involved – from local walking trails to overseas treks and much, much more. 2018 marks our 15th birthday year and there will be plenty of events and celebrations happening throughout the year, as well as our Open Days on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 October 2018.
For those who love to walk, the Sussex Hospice Trail offers a variety of walking routes across the county. Supporters can walk as much or as little as they want, whenever they want, and get sponsored. For a bigger challenge, the South Coast Challenge is a 25, 50 or 100km run, walk or jog across the South Downs, starting in Eastbourne and taking place over the August bank holiday weekend. We have also launched our Inca Trail Challenge for 2019. Registration is now open for the opportunity to trek along this ancient route in Peru, ending at the world famous ancient city of Machu Picchu.
These are just a small selection of the challenges we offer, whatever your passion, we can find the perfect way for you to have fun whilst raising funds for Chestnut Tree House. If you would like to take on a challenge in 2018 to replace your Night to Remember midnight walk but aren’t sure what you would like to do, please get in touch using our enquiry form and we will be in contact to help find the perfect alternative.
Thank you to our loyal band of walkers as well as the hundreds of volunteers who have donated their precious time to help us make it a Night to Remember each year. We will be back with a big event for East Sussex in 2019. In the meantime we hope that all those interested in our midnight walk will continue to support us in the fantastic way they have over the past 15 years and help us to continue caring for local children and families.
